What is EMDR?


EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on a traumatic memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds). This process is believed to mimic the brain’s natural healing process, similar to what happens during REM sleep, allowing you to reprocess painful memories in a safe, controlled environment.


Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR does not require you to discuss the trauma in detail. Instead, it helps the brain "unstick" from the emotional intensity tied to those memories, reducing the psychological burden and helping you feel more grounded and in control.
